Description: The Mundi Mundi is just outside of the Silverton district on the way to Umberumberka.. one of two water catchments for the township of Broken Hill. Mundi Mundi plain is a place of true outback beauty.. flat as the eye can see and home of some the most amazing sunsets.. it was once the proposed site of an international airport.. but was rejected by the township of Broken Hill.. the Mundi Mundi lookout is also a place where many go to say goodbye to loved ones.. I love this photo because it’s sets a contrast of the arid beauty of the flora of this area... as well as portraying the artistic spirit that dwells in this area with the stacking of rocks by many different people that visit here for variety of reasons... it also captures the modern use of this area with the wind turbines in the background that cover the mountain ranges in this region of the desert.. Mundi Mundi, it’s look out and Silverton is a spectacular wealth of history and heritage of the origins of the great city of Broken Hill.. as the prospector named Charles Rasp although originally from Stuttgart in Germany, came to Australia to improve his health was inspired by the Silver Rush at Silverton which inspired Him to discover the initial silver deposit when out prospecting In the Broken Hill area..
